AyaNova subscription service

This page has important information about backups and updates you need to know about when using the AyaNova subscription service.

Software updates

AyaNova subscription service ensures you are always running the latest version of AyaNova.

Our network operations engineers will take care of all updates required to AyaNova or the underlying server operating system hosting AyaNova.

Update advance notifications

When an update is required to be installed we will try to give at least 24 hours advance notice however in the case of an urgent security update we may not be able to give any advance warning due to the urgency of the situation.

An upgrade notification will be emailed to the email address used to purchase the AyaNova subscription service. The notification will contain information about the type of upgrade required and a link to the AyaNova change log so you can see exactly what will be fixed, changed or new features added.

Downtime during an update

Standard upgrades to AyaNova typically require less than one minute of down time where the AyaNova server will be unresponsive. During an update there is typically no need to log out of AyaNova, there will be a brief period of non responsiveness and then AyaNova will continue to respond normally.

In the case of an operating system upgrade the server itself hosting your AyaNova instance needs to be rebooted so there can be as much as 2 minutes down time on average. Again there is typically no need to log out of AyaNova, it is designed to allow you to continue working once it has reloaded and is ready for connections.

Web application update pop-up

When AyaNova is updated you may see an update notification pop-up in your browser which will give you the option to update the AyaNova web application immediately or cancel and update on your own time later if you have unsaved data you are working on. If you accept an update it will simply reload the page which triggers a reload of the web application code.

If you choose to do it later you can continue to work and then select to reload the page in your web browser to initiate a full upgrade of the AyaNova web application.

What time will my service be upgraded?

We have chosen standard times for each data center to install standard updates that are intended to be outside of normal business hours relative to each data center to avoid any disruption to your business.

Usually, if necessary, we will perform maintenance or upgrades on Thursday (our west coast north america time zone).

Your service will be updated at the following data center local time:

  • New York 7 p.m.
  • San Francisco 7 p.m.
  • Amsterdam 1 a.m.
  • Singapore 1 a.m.
  • London midnight
  • Frankfurt 1 a.m.
  • Toronto 7 p.m.
  • Bangalore 5:30 a.m.
  • Sydney 4 a.m.

Note that in the case of an urgent or emergency security update we may be forced to install it immediately at any time of day without advance notice.


Please read this carefully downloading and securing your backup is your responsibility.

Your data is not secure without this step

AyaNova by default will, automatically make one copy of your database and attachment files at 12:30 PM local time to your LOCAL SERVER ONLY.

In other words your data backup is stored in the same place as your live database (all "eggs" in the same basket) so your data is not securely backed up until you download your backup to a secure location off of your AyaNova server.

We have a full backup guide that you should immediately read and follow to ensure the security of your data and to ensure that the backup settings are appropriate for your business and acceptable level of risk.

We make every effort to ensure you will not need your backup but you should always expect the unexpected and be sure you have a recent copy of your data and attachment file backups downloaded and stored in a safe and secure location. In the event of a disaster we can have you up and running again quickly (at another data center if necessary) as long as a recent backup is available.
