Backing up if using stand-alone default installation

**Important information regarding backing up if utilizing the default installed embedded Firebird database server**

 

 

Never make a backup of the AyaNova database file with the AyaNova program running when utilizing the default installation of AyaNova that uses the embedded Firebird server.

 

You must have the AyaNova program closed, and no access occurring on the database.

 

If your situation is such that the Firebird database must be accessed and running on a continuous basis, you must move to at minimum the network Firebird database server configuration. Refer to the installation information in this Technical section for use with the network Firebird server.

 

 

 

The only file that needs to be backed up when using the default AyaNova installation is the AYANOVA.FDB database file.

 

And this is repeated again do not access the database (i.e. do not run the AyaNova program, or access the database directly) when the backup is being performed.

 

If your situation is such that the Firebird database must be accessed and running on a continuous basis, you must move to at minimum the network Firebird database server configuration. Refer to the installation information in this Technical section for use with the network Firebird server.

 

 

Restoring the database with an embedded Firebird database server

 

 

Situation: The AyaNova v3 program is still installed, but an issue with the database requires restoring from backup:

 

1.Ensure no one attempting or is accessing the AyaNova database
2.Rename the existing database to AYANOVA.FDB.BAD
3.Restore the backup AYANOVA.FDB file to the exact same folder
4.Log in via the AyaNova program and confirm successful

 

 

Situation: Computer has no previous AyaNova 3 installation

 

1.Download the AyaNova installation file from the AyaNova web site
2.Perform the basic installation as per the instructions in the Basic Installation section at the beginning of this manual
3.Log in to the trial AyaNova database and ensure program installation successful
4.Close out of the AyaNova program
5.Rename the existing AYANOVA.FDB trial database file to AYANOVA.FDB.TRIAL
6.Restore the backup AYANOVA.FDB to this same folder

Log in via the AyaNova program and confirm successful
