AyaNova Event Generator Service

Top  Previous  Next

If using the default installation - single user default embedded Firebird:

The embedded default Firebird auto-runs an internal Generator without the need for additional configuration or settings when-ever the AyaNova program runs.

This internal Generator used by default with the embedded default Firebird checks every 5 minutes for events.

Remember – it will only check for events if:

The AyaNova v3 program is itself running
The user logged in is NOT the AyaNova Administrator account
The user logged in is a member of a security group with full rights to preventive maintenance and workorder objects

If using any network configuration - SQL or network Firebird:

For use with the network Firebird server, or SQL Express or SQL Server, the Generator service must be installed and configured.

Once the network Firebird or SQL Express or SQL Server setup has been completed successfully, perform the following to install and configure the Event Generator service.

1.Download the Event Generator installation file from the AyaNova website to the same server where the AyaNova database resides
2.Open Windows Explorer and move to the AyaNova 3 program directory
a.Default is C:\Program Files\Ground Zero Tech-Works Inc\AyaNova 3
3.Make a copy of the existing AyaNova.exe.config file
4.Rename this file Generator.exe.config and move it to the AyaNova Generator program folder
a.Default location is C:\Program Files\Ground Zero Tech-Works Inc\AyaNova Generator
5.Open Services (right-click on My Computer -> select Manage -> expand Services)
6.Find the AyaNova Generator service – start it (right-click on AyaNova Generator and select Start)
7.When the Generator service first starts, it will poll the database to process any notification events. Then it will poll every five minutes after.
8.Expand the Event Viewer in Computer Management window
9.Double click on the Application Log
10.Double-click on the log entry for the source AyaNovaGenerator – it should say the service has started successfully.
a.If the service did not start successfully, check the other logs at that time to help identify the reason.
b.Most common issue is that the Generator.exe.config file is not created, or is not correct. Double-check step 2 through 4 again.
11.Reboot the server so that all services start automatically.
12.View the Application Log again in  the Event Viewer in Computer Management window, and confirm again that the service started successfully

13.Log into the AyaNova program, create an event that you have subscribed to and then confirm that you are notified
14.Do note that it may be 5 or slightly more minutes before the notification is sent – especially if delivery method is via email as your email server still has to process it

Make sure that only one instance of Event Generator service is ever running for your database. Running multiple copies of the Event Generator against one database will cause errors.
