Upgrading if stand-alone AyaNova 3.6

Top  Previous  Next

It is always recommend to read through all instructions first before proceeding.

NOTE: Refer to the AyaNova Pricing web page and AyaNova FAQ Answers web page for details on upgrade pricing

NOTE: As per the steps below, you apply your AyaNova 5 Activation key after you have performed the upgrade steps. Make sure that you perform the upgrade steps before the Install By date of your AyaNova 5 Activation key.

1. NOTE: Before proceeding, make sure that you know your AyaNova Administrator username and password - log in and try it first.

One of the many new features of AyaNova 5 is that ONLY users of type Administrator have access to grids/features of Administration pane regardless of rights given to prevent viewing by non-Administrator users and accidental changes. So if your AyaNova Administrator is the only user that is of type Administrator and you do not know the AyaNova Administrator username and password, you won't ever be able to edit users, security groups, etc.

If you do not know your AyaNova Administrator username and password, before upgrading to AyaNova 5 log in as another user that does have rights to the Users grid, and edit the AyaNova Administrator username and password, and keep that username and password in a safe place (i.e. in a safe).

2. And make sure you have a successful backup of your AyaNova 3.6 database file AYANOVA.FDB

Refer to the AyaNova 3 manual for backing up your stand-alone AyaNova 3.6 database

3. Uninstall any previous AyaNova programs via Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs

Uninstall version 3.x QBI, PTI and any AyaNova import utilities if applicable
Uninstall version 3.x AyaNova

4. Download the AyaNova 5 installation file from http://www.ayanova.com/download.htm if not already downloaded and installed

5. Perform the stand-alone AyaNova 5 installation steps

6. Run AyaNova 5 and confirm it loads successfully

The first time you run AyaNova 5, it will display with the AyaNova Administrator username and password pre-entered as the trial AyaNova 5 database was installed - this is OK and expected.

**The following steps will now move and update your licensed AyaNova 3 database to AyaNova 5**

7. Make sure you have exited out of AyaNova 5

Failure to do so may cause corruption of the database

8. Open Windows Explorer and move to the C:\Program Files\Ground Zero Tech-Works Inc\AyaNova 3 program folder

9. Cut your old AyaNova 3 AYANOVA.FDB database file from this folder

10. Go to your folder %AllUsersProfile%\AyaNovaData\

On a Vista or Windows 7 computer, this would be usually C:\ProgramData\AyaNovaData\

On 2000 or XP or 2003 computer, this would be usually C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AyaNovaData\

11. Paste your AYANOVA.FDB database into this folder, overwriting the existing trial sample AYANOVA.FDB

12. Run AyaNova 5

The first time AyaNova 5 runs, it will update your AyaNova 4 database. It may take a while to first load the log in screen as it makes internal changes - let it run as it could take 15 seconds up to 15 minutes or more, and the AyaNova 5 log in screen will show up when it is ready

13. Log into AyaNova 5 as the AyaNova Administrator

A message will display that the licenses have expired - this is OK and expected because your AyaNova 5 database needs to now be licensed for AyaNova 5.

14. Apply your AyaNova 5 keycode to your data as per its instructions.

15. You have now upgraded your AyaNova 3.6 database to AyaNova 5

16. Be sure to note the new location of your AyaNova 5 database for backup

17. Now that AyaNova 5 is up and running, you can now delete any remaining old AyaNova 3 folder and its files in C:\Program Files\Ground Zero Tech-Works Inc\AyaNova 3 as no longer needed

18. Refer to Backup & Restore with the stand-alone single computer default installation for backing you your AyaNova 5 database.
