WBI Skins

Top  Previous  Next

Skins allow you to customize the look of your AyaNova WBI web pages, such as you may want the WBI look to follow your company's colors or your web site colors and look.

WBI comes with four sample "skins" that users can select after logging in via the User Preferences menu option - the name of the skin is dictated by the folder name in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\AyaNovaWBI\App_Themes

UserPref1

UserPref2

(your skin selections may be different, as it depends on the defaults installed, and whether you have created new)

A cookie identifying the last skin used will be placed on the computer so that the skin last used will be selected again by default the next time the user logs in. The user can change which skin is used at anytime by changing via the User Preferences menu option.

Any folder found under the App_Themes folder will be listed as a choice in the user preferences page automatically.

A skin file has the file name extension .skin and contains property settings for individual controls such as Grids, Button, Label, TextBox, Calendar controls etc. Control skin settings are like the control markup itself, but contain only the properties you want to set as part of the theme.

Skin folders are located in the C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\AyaNovaWBI\App_Themes folder on the WBI server (if default installation location is used)

Each folder under the App_Themes folder contains additional files and folders that identify to the web browser how the components on the web pages are to display.

Skins do not change the functionality of WBI pages, only their appearance.

Basics Recommendations if customizing an existing Skin File

Make a backup of the original skin folder, sub-folders and files before beginning.
In the event of an issue that you can not resolve, you will need to restore back to the original
Use only NotePad or Visual Studio to edit the skin file
Do NOT use Microsoft Work or WordPad or other document editing program
Make no more then one change at a time between testing your changes
This way you can remove your individual customization if it returns an error attempting to view via WBI in a web browser
Don't forget to delete your web browser cache to be able to see any new changes
Usually found in Tools -> Internet Options in the web browser
If you get errors accessing WBI after customizing a skin
If you get an error, either remove what customization(s) you have made
Or restore to the original skin file
Providing support for skin editing is beyond our free technical support - we may be able to provide some pointers, but AyaNova support can not provide step by step instructions.
It is suggested to refer to the four sample skins provided to identify differences, and to the AyaNova Support Forum WBI v3 - Remote Web Browser Access for AyaNova v3 where skin related topics may be posted
