Entering Dates & Times

Top  Previous  Next

Unless you "tell" the web page  to save  edits or new entries, the AyaNova database has no way to know that you have added a new record, or edited an existing record unless you "tell" it to Save. It is up to you to make sure that you save any new records added, or any existing record edits.

The Date & Time Picker

Many entry screens and grids within AyaNova have a Date & Time Picker field - where you select a data and enter a time.

Some fields may automatically default to today's date and time - for example, the Service Date in a new workorder. This is a feature for date & time fields that usually will be a certain date - for example, if you are creating a new service workorder on the road, it more then likely is for service you are providing at that time.

Manually entering Date:

Place your cursor in the farthest left of the field

DateTime1

Enter leading zeros if month or day is less then 10 - for example, if the date is 09/08/2006, you must type in 09082006

As soon as you start manually typing, a date and time may automatically appear in the rest of the fields you have not typed yet - this is purely a function of the component to help you identify the format.

HINT: use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to move to the day, month or year section of the date field

HINT: use the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard to change the day, month and/or year

Do note that it is a lot faster to just use the drop down calendar to select the exact date. A drop down selection for time is a feature that will be coming soon.

Manually entering Time:

HINT: use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to move to the hours minutes or PM/AM section of the time field

HINT: use the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard to change the time

For example, if the time is presently displaying as 11:15 PM and you want it to instead be 2:30 AM

- with the cursor to the left of 11, use the ? UP arrow to change the time to 2 (now shows as 2:15 PM)

- use the ? right arrow key to move to the left of the 15, use the ? UP arrow key to increase to 30 (now shows 2:30 PM)

- use the ? right arrow key to move to the left of PM, use the ? UP or ? DOWN arrow key to change to AM (now displays as 2:30 AM)
