What limitations are in the trial AyaNova?

All features are available in the trial AyaNova with the following limitations:

Is onsite training needed to use AyaNova?

No. AyaNova is very easy to use. Unlike other service management programs that easily charge you thousands of dollars to provide training, expensive onsite training is not required nor needed with AyaNova

Can I get a "full" trial with no limitations?

Yes! Use our online request form to send us your email address and company info, and we will send you a keycode to unlock the trial AyaNova that you have downloaded and installed from the Downloads web page.

Do note that the trial AyaNova that you download and install does provide access to the majority of AyaNova's features. By requesting a temporary keycode, you just unlock AyaNOva completely, as well as all of its optional add-ons so that you can fully try out everything.

Refer to the AyaNova v4 Help also from the Downloads web page as it contains detailed information on every feature, as well as tips on use, installation and configuration, and How To's with screenshots.

What if I get an error trying to install AyaNova?

Messages that could occur and solution:

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application:

This error can occur running AyaNova if your Microsoft.NET Framework 2 or higher is corrupted or not installed.

1. Confirm you have have Microsoft.NET Framework 2 or higher installed via Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs

2. Note: Microsoft.NET Framework 2 SDK is not the same thing - make sure it is Microsoft.NET Framework 2

3. If not installed, download and install from Microsoft, don't forget to reboot after installing

4. If it is already installed, run a repair on it by selecting Change/Remove on the Microsoft.NET Framework 2 in Add/Remove programs. This may take 5 or minutes. Don't forget to reboot after running the repair before trying AyaNova again.

 

AyaNova has encountered an error and must close.

When you first install AyaNova, just select the default "AyaNova - single computer installation with sample database"

The "AyaNova - network computer installation" selection is only for step #6 of the networking steps. And if you select it in your initial installation, you would have got an error saying it could not find the config.txt anyways so you should have stopped than.

If you want to network AyaNova, there are specific networking steps to do so in the AyaNova 4 Help file section starting with http://www.ayanova.com/AyaNova4webHelp/which_database_should_i_use.htm

 

AyaNova was unable to start

Depending on how early in startup the problem occurred,
a detailed log of the problem with suggestions *may* have
been saved to the file AyaLog.txt
located at: file:\C:\Program Files\Ground Zero Tech-Works Inc\AyaNova

This error can occur because you have installed network components (i.e. Data Portal and/or Network Generator) that are conflicting with your single computer installation of AyaNova

Or if you have configured AyaNova for network use with Firebird Server 2, you may have edited your aliases.conf file incorrectly

Can I be sent a CD of the trial AyaNova?
The AyaNova installation file that includes optional add-on's, and the optional add-on WBI are available for download from the Download web pages.

To be able to offer affordable service management & workorder software, we do not provide CD's. If you require a CD, we suggest to contact your local computer center to download the installation and documentation files, and burn to a CD for you

How do I install the trial AyaNova?
Follow these steps:
  1. Download the AyaNova v4 trial installation file
  2. Install taking the defaults
  3. That's it! - the installation places an AyaNova icon on your desktop from which you can run the AyaNova program

What is the username and password to log into AyaNova while in trial mode?
The default trial user  is "test" with the password "test".  (lowercase and without the quotation marks)

The default AyaNova Administrator is "manager" with the password "letmein" (lowercase and without quotation marks)

By default, while in trial mode, the AyaNova Administrator username and password will be pre-entered for you as a convenience.

You can also log in as other sample users that have different security rights, including sample users for different locales (German, Spanish, French). Additional information on other sample users and passwords can be found within the AyaNova Help

Can I delete the sample data that is in the trial AyaNova?
You can manually delete the existing data in the trial AyaNova database by opening the entry screen for each object and selecting Delete. The exception would be the sample users which can not be edited or deleted while in trial mode.

When AyaNova is licensed, you can delete all data following the instructions in the AyaNova Help section "How do I erase the AyaNova database?" by using the quick menu option to erase the entire database. Some aspects will not be deleted such as the AyaNova Administrator, report templates etc - see the AyaNova v4 Help section identified above for complete details.

Also note that if you have entered data while in trial mode, this entered data is not deleted when you license - so you can pre-enter information before purchasing and going live.

How do I determine how many licenses I require?
 
Licenses are required for scheduled users only.

The number of licenses you would purchase would equate to the number of people that you wish to schedule and track.

An unlimited number of users in the program can be viewing and entering data, but only users that are set as a schedulable user can be chosen as scheduled for a service workorder, quote or PM; or who performed the service in a service workorder, or will in a quote or PM; or set as a schedulable user in the Schedule screen.

There is no license required for regular users who access the program to view or enter data. Only for the number of schedulable users

When you purchase a new license or additional licenses, we email you an activation key code that contains the total number of licenses you have purchased overall. 

You enter in all your users (both schedulable and non-schedulable ) that will be using AyaNova dispatch software or tracked in it via the Administration -> Users navigation pane

Each user is created within an entry screen. You select what type of user the user is and set as Active. If select Schedulable User, that user will require a license.

Only if user is set as both Active and  Schedulable User,  is a license taken out of the "pool" of licenses contained in your activation key code and indicating that particular user should be considered an active schedulable user which means their name will then appear in the lists of schedulable users available when creating a work order or scheduling.

If you have reached your total licenses, the program will not allow you to to set additional Schedulable Users as Active

If you uncheck the ACTIVE box making a Schedulable User in-active you free up their license and it goes back into the pool for use with another user. In this way you can temporarily or permanently free up a  license for situations like someone leaving the company and a replacement coming on or for a temporary relief technician while another is on holidays.

Inactive schedulable users do not appear on lists  for scheduling or creating NEW work orders, however they will still appear on closed work orders so all their historical data is still kept in the database, but their license is freed up. 

This way you don't need to resort to deleting a schedulable user or renaming them to free up a license, you simply uncheck the box and your ready to enter your new replacement schedulable user without affecting any data that applies to the de-activated technician.

For companies that employ sub-contractors, you could determine a time period that jobs are scheduled for. Than determine the number of contractors employed in this time - and that would be the number of licenses to purchase.

For example, if you book no farther than two months ahead:  determine what the total number of different techs you had scheduled over the course of the busiest consecutive two months if you book no farther than two months ahead and that will be the number of schedulable user licenses to purchase.

Or you could purchase licenses based on the different types of jobs. For example if you were a general contractor for building homes, you would purchase as many licenses as there are different jobs - one license to schedule and track electricians, one license to schedule and track plumbers, one license to schedule general carpenters, one license to schedule specialized carpenters, etc etc.

I want to purchase additional licenses - what do I do?
Go to the  Purchase web page, select the link to purchase online.

Enter in the number of additional licenses you wish to purchase.

Login with your User ID and password you created in your original order. In this way, your previous registered email address and registered company name is already entered for you. Or enter in your registered company name and contact information.

Continue with the order steps, entering the text ADD-ON and the ShareIT reference order number of your last AyaNova license purchase where indicated.

A replacement license key will be sent to you shortly, that will include your original number of licenses plus the new licenses just purchased with instructions to enter it into AyaNova dispatch software.

I will be using multiple databases - do I need to purchase separate licenses for each database?
Yes - you would purchase licenses for each database.

Our license agreement permits only one database file per unique activation key. What this means is that you are not permitted to purchase licenses, receive the AyaNova activation keycode for the number of licenses purchased, then use it with more than one AyaNova database.

If you need to run more than one separate AyaNova database will need to purchase a separate unique license key for each separate database that you want to use.

When purchasing license keys for an additional separate database make sure you specify a different registration name than your other purchases or it will be applied to the original license.

For example if you have two offices you might specify a different name like this: "SNOW inc. - U.S.", "SNOW - Canada"

Do I need to download something else after I purchase?
No.

When you purchase AyaNova licenses, you will be sent a confirmation of payment received via email from ShareIT our payment processing partner. And shortly after, you will receive an AyaNova Activation Key email message with instructions for applying to the trial AyaNova that you have already installed and tested out.

There is no need to remove the trial AyaNova, nor download another version.

After you have applied the keycode, you can keep your existing data or delete all existing data and start new - up to you.

I've emailed a question, but have not received a reply?
If you have contacted us via direct email but have not received a reply, what may be occurring is:
bulletYour email program or your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is using a spam filter that is filtering out all email from us, or certain email depending on the content.

Do edit your email program and contact your ISP to allow all email from support@ayanova.com

And than re-send your email again letting us know that you have not received a reply.

If you have sent an email using a HotMail account, although we may receive it and have sent a reply, you may never receive reply and we will never be advised that it was rejected by HotMail

Can I try AyaNova 4 without affecting my live licensed AyaNova 3 data?
Yes - you would need to set up AyaNova 4 separately from your existing live AyaNova 3

A. Log into your AyaNova 3 as the AyaNova Administrator

B. Select menu Help -> License -> copy all of the text there, and paste into an email request to support@ayanova.com to receive a 30 day temporary activation key for AyaNova 4. You will receive via email a temporary keycode - do note the Install By date.

C. Make a backup of your AyaNova 3 database (refer to your AyaNova 3 Manual for details on backup depending on your AyaNova 3 configuration)

D. Install the trial AyaNova 4 as outlined in the AyaNova Help file to a separate location (NOTE: AyaNova 4 installs to a different default directory than AyaNova 3)

bulletIf were using the stand-alone default installation of AyaNova 3, take the defaults when installing AyaNova 4 as it installs to a different directory than AyaNova 3
bulletIf were using networked Firebird configuration of AyaNova 3, refer to the Firebird configuration for AyaNova 4 and install on a different server than your AyaNova 3 database.
bulletIf were using networked SQL Express configuration of AyaNova 3, refer to the SQL Express configuration for AyaNova 4, and suggested to install to a different server than your AyaNova 3 database

E. Restore a copy of your AyaNova 3 database over the installed trial AyaNova 4 database

F. Log into AyaNova 4 as the AyaNova Administrator only (no one else to be running AyaNova)

G. You will receive a message that your licenses have expired - select OK, and apply your temporary AyaNova 4 activation key.

H. Now try out AyaNova 4 which points to your temporary licensed database while continuing to use your AyaNova 3 that points to your live data.

I. Refer to the AyaNova Help file for a list of new features in AyaNova 4

J. Once you have confirmed it meets your needs, purchase the same (or more) number of AyaNova 4 licenses as your AyaNova 3 database is licensed for.

Is AyaNova 4 compatible with the optional add-ons QBI version 3, WBI 3, or PTI 3?
No - you must use the version 4 of QBI, WBI and PTI with AyaNova 4

 

Upgrading from AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4

Can I import my AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4 data into AyaNova v4?
Yes - from a licensed AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4 database to a licensed AyaNova v4 database.

AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4 data can not be imported into a trial AyaNova v4.

If you would like to test importing your data into AyaNova v4 before purchasing the upgrade, contact us for a 30 day license.

Can I try AyaNova v4 without affecting my live AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4 data?
Yes.

The AyaNova v4 installation defaults to a different folder than the AyaNova CE program

AyaNova v4 is a completely new program using a completely different database than AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4, and is not compatible with the existing AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4 database file SCDATA.SC. As the answer above, we provide a free utility to import your AyaNova CE data into AyaNova.

Is AyaNova v4 compatible with the optional add-ons ARAS v2.9 and QBI v1.2?
No.

AyaNova v4 uses a different database schema and is not compatible with the previous versions of optional add-ons that were compatible with AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4

Is there a charge to upgrade from AyaNova CE to AyaNova 4?
Yes.

AyaNova CE 1.9 licensed users would purchase AyaNova 4 licenses at the regular price.

Can I have Microsoft.NET 1.1 Framework installed instead of the Microsoft.NET 2 Framework?
No.

AyaNova v4  requires Microsoft.NET 2 or higher to be installed to the computer prior to the AyaNova installation. Be sure to apply any .NET service packs as well.

Can I share the AyaNova database on a network?
Yes. AyaNova can be accessed simultaneously by networked computers if configured for network use.

Follow the easy detailed instructions within the AyaNova Help on installing and configuring network access using the Firebird Server, SQL Express or SQL Server.

Should I use the Firebird or should I use SQL Server?

Can I use Firebird 1.5 with AyaNova 4?
No

AyaNova 4 requires Firebird 2.0

Can I use SQL Server instead of the FireBird database?
Yes.

Refer to the Detailed information within the AyaNova Help section on utilizing a SQL Server database. Do note that once you port your data to SQL, the data can not be ported back to a FireBird database via AyaNova

What remote access options are available?

Can I use the AyaNova program to connect over the Internet to the AyaNova database without having to use a web browser?
Yes.

Can I import my AyaNova 3 data into AyaNova v4?
Its not an import per se - you install AyaNova 4 and "point" to your AyaNova 3 database, and the AyaNova 4 program files will update your AyaNova 3 database automatically to be used with AyaNova 4

Do note that once a database has been updated for AyaNova 4, it can not be reverted to AyaNova 3. If trying out AyaNova 4, be sure to make a backup of your AyaNova 3 database before it is upgraded.

Can I import my AyaNova CE 1.9.4.4 data into AyaNova v4?
Yes.
