Network Generator installation steps

Top  Previous  Next

It is always recommend to read through all instructions first before proceeding.

NOTE: AyaNova must be configured for network use before proceeding as the Event Generator service only works with a networked configured database.

NOTE: Use Notification must be set to TRUE in Global Settings for notifications to work.

Once the above requirements are met, perform the following to install and configure the Event Generator.

1.Run the AyaNovaSetup.exe installation again

2.Select to Install AyaNova Generator service - for background notification processing

3.Proceed with the installation.

4.If during the installation, it sees that there already is a config.txt file and do you want to overwrite it - click NO

ConfigTXToverwrite

You do NOT want to overwrite your config.txt file because it is already configured to point to your networked AyaNova database

5.Once installation is completed, open Services (right-click on My Computer -> select Manage -> expand Services)

6.Find the AyaNova generator service – start it (right-click on AyaNova Generator and select Start)
When the Generator service first starts, it will poll the database to process any notification events. Then it will poll every five minutes after.

7.Expand the Event Viewer in Computer Management window

8.Double click on the Application Log

9.Double-click on the last log entry for the source AyaNovaGenerator – it should say the service has connected successfully.

If the service did not start successfully, check the other logs at that time to help identify the reason.
Most common issue is that the config.txt in the AyaNova 4 program directory is not correctly edited. Edit the config.txt file and confirm that it does have the correct database server, database, username and password, and that you can successfully run AyaNova program connecting to your networked AyaNova database.

10.Reboot the server so that all services start automatically. Check that they do.

11.Log into the AyaNova program, create an event that you have subscribed to and then confirm that you are notified
Log in as a schedulable user
Subscribe to "Schedule Marker - just created"
Create delivery method of "AyaNova memo" and add as the delivery method for this subscription
Create a new Schedule Marker for this schedulable user as the Source: and save
Refresh the Notification Logs (last 7 days) grid after 5 minutes + have past if needed
You should see a record identifying the notification, what it was for and any errors it may have encountered
If you do not see a notification record, nor receive a memo, recheck your Generator installation and configuration steps, including redoing the steps above for subscribing.
Do note that it may be 5 or slightly more minutes before the notification is sent – especially if delivery method is via email as your email server still has to process it

Make sure that only one instance of Event Generator service is ever running for your database. Do NOT install the Generator to multiple computers - doing so will cause errors.
